Urban League of Central Carolinas Announces New President & CEO

Charlotte, NC — The Board of Directors of the Urban League of Central Carolinas (ULCC) has named William “Teddy” McDaniel III as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the ULCC, effective Aug. 1. McDaniel will take the helm of the Charlotte affiliate after serving as the President and CEO of the Austin, TX. affiliate for the past 5 years.

Teddy’s selection is the result of a lengthy, nationwide search process, and I want to commend the Search Committee, our search firm, Coleman Lew & Associates, and the National Urban League for the manner in which it was conducted.”

Prior to joining the Urban League, McDaniel spent 15 years in the financial service industry, concentrating in the Franchise Business sector. From 2004-2008, he was an Asst. Vice President for GE Capital based in Scottsdale, AZ. In this role, he originated and underwrote over $100 million in real estate and commercial loans to small and medium size franchise businesses. He started his career with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City and completed a rigorous financial analyst training program. Thereafter, he spent 3 years with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, NA, managing a $50 million portfolio of mixed-use real estate properties and underwriting loans to McDonald’s franchisees. In 1998, he joined Franchise Mortgage Acceptance Corp. (FMAC) in Greenwich, CT as a senior underwriter for franchise loans. While at FMAC, McDaniel was responsible for over $100 million in senior debt and equity transactions to multi-unit franchisees of national restaurant brands such as Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, and Pizza Hut. He holds a B.A. in Finance, from Morehouse College.

A passionate community advocate, McDaniel serves on the Board of Directors of the Austin Revitalization Authority, Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Austin) and the University of Texas at Austin’s Diversity Advisory Council. He is the Vice Chair of Austin’s Airport (ABIA) Advisory Commission and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
